The Boot Camp Challenge consists of a 4.6 mile course aboard the famous Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego where Marines are made! Prepare yourself for 19 obstacles and challenges you will have to overcome used by United States Marine Corps Recruits. Some of these obstacles will include wall climbs, log hurdles, tunnel crawls, cargo net climbs, rope climbs, ammo can lifts, sandbags and more. To ensure you stay highly motivated, Marine Corps Drill Instructors await throughout the course ensuring you complete the obstacles and challenges along the way. The Race will begin at 9 a.m. Day-of registration opens at 7 a.m. After the race, join us for our post-race festivities and award ceremony beginning around 11 a.m.
This category is for those that wish to experience the Challenge while having fun, building camaraderie by helping other participants, and feeling proud for accomplishing a challenging event. Participants will conquer the obstacles and challenges at their own pace. An exercise penalty will be applied for failure to complete selected obstacles, i.e. Jumping Jacks, Mountain Climbers and Push-ups to name a few.
Participants are required to complete all obstacles and challenges before proceeding to the next obstacle. Awards for Individual Male and Individual Female will go to the top 3 finishers in the following age groups:

The “Platoon Experience” is a unique opportunity to run the Boot Camp Challenge like never before. You’ll be placed in a platoon of 30 participants and run the course together. As a platoon, you’ll meet the challenges of the course, conquer the obstacles and finish together. Marines never leave a Marine behind! Make no mistake this will be an intense and difficult, but not an impossible task. The platoon will be required to carry a team weight throughout the course, but not on or over the obstacles. Along the course you can expect the platoon to stop and perform various exercises, i.e. Jumping Jacks, Mountain Climbers and Push-ups to name a few. To enhance this experience, there will be Drill Instructors assigned to your platoon. They will encourage, motivate and guide the platoon to the finish.

You must be at least 15 years old on race day to participate.
All of the proceeds from Boot Camp Challenge go to Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), which supports Marines and their families by providing morale, welfare, and recreational programming.
In order to receive your packets in the mail, you or your entire team must register by April 28. The packet includes your race numbers and course information.
Yes, gear check will be available at the Bag Check Area. Plastic bags will be provided and all belongings must fit inside the bag. We discourage bringing any valuables to the race.
Your entry fee is non-refundable but your bib number can be transferred to another participant at no additional cost. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
Request for category changes must be made no later than May 8th.
No, baby strollers, jogging strollers, and children under the age of 15 are not permitted on the course. However, they are welcome in the expo spectator areas.
Though we love animals, dogs or pets of any kind are not allowed on the race course or venue.
Official race results will be posted one business day after the race.
