FEATURES
The first
and best! A fun and furious 3-mile course featuring obstacles used only
by Marine Recruits at the Marine Recruit Depot. Get "encouragement"
along the way at each obstacle by MCRD Drill Instructors. Compete as an
individual or a member of a 3-person or 5-person team.
Great post-race party with plenty of music, food, drinks and beer,
awards to the top 3 finishers in each category/age group, official race
T-Shirts to all entrants. A very memorable day!

race numbers and course information. Note: team captains will be mailed
all bibs and info for the entire team

Individual elite division
starts in 1st wave
Females running under 9 minute miles and males under 8 minute miles
qualify for the elite category. While we are not looking for any written
qualifications, we ask that abide by this time qualification if you
intend to race in the elite category. Awards for the elite category
will be given to the top 3 males and top 3 females overall. If you choose
the elite category, you will not be ranked/awarded in your age group
- just ranked in the elite category.
SCHEDULE
Race starts
at 9:00 a.m. - you will be going off in 5-minute waves, starting with
the elite division, then individual men, individual women, then 3-person
teams, then 5-person teams. Day of race registration & t-shirt pick-up
opens at 6:30 a.m.
COURSE
3-mile
obstacle course on paved roads and hard-packed dirt - flat and fast.
Over 50 obstacles, including hay jumps, tunnel crawls, fox holes &
trenches, cargo netting, and push up stations. Drill instructions at
each station to make sure you've completed your obstacles.

PLEASE
ARRIVE EARLY
There are 3,000 entrants and thousands of spectators coming onto the
Marine Corps Recruit Depot on race morning, so please arrive at the
gate 1 1/2 hours prior to the race start. Our great expo and t-shirt
pickup opens at 6:30am. They'll be plenty to keep you busy - food and
drinks for purchase, vendors to visit.
DIRECTIONS
INDIVIDUALS: YOU WILL BE ENTERING GATE #5 OF MCRD.
Take I-5 to the Washington St. exit. Head west to Gate #5.
TEAMS: YOU WILL BE
ENTERING GATE #1 OF MCRD.
From the north, take I-5 South to CA 209-S/El Camino de Rio W towards
Rosecrans St and continue on Rosecrans. From the south, take I-5 North
to Pacific Hwy exit – continue for 2.4 miles to Rosecrans and
turn left. For both: continue on Rosecrans until Lytton St. –
turn left. Gate #1 of MCRD will be on your right hand side.
Follow
signs from the gate to parking. Please have a valid driver's license,
current vehicle registration and vehicle insurance when entering the
base. Start line is on the corner of Henderson and Seminole. WE
RECOMMEND THAT YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR DESIGNATED GATE OF THE BASE NO LATER
1 ½ HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR RACE START.
T-SHIRT
PICKUP & SIGN-IN
Race
t-shirts must be picked up prior to the start & you'll need your
race number to get your t-shirt - no exceptions. If your team members
did not sign a waiver by September 19th, you will need to do so on race
morning. Pickup starts at 6:30am.
RULES
You can race
as an individual in your age group or as 3-person or 5-person team (all
members must compete and finish together to be eligible for timing and
awards.)
Sorry, there are no race refunds and race numbers
are non-transferable - only you can wear your race number. Although we love them, no dogs are allowed at the race site on this military installation - we appreciate your support! Sorry, baby strollers, joggers or children under the age of 15 allowed
on the course. However, all are allowed at the race site.
SPECIAL
TEAM INSTRUCTIONS
Team
captains are responsible for the following: making sure all team members
sign a waiver, handing out the race numbers for your team, finding your
team members on race morning, and making any substitutions necessary
for the team. Please make sure you want to be a team captain before
you register! Have your team members sign the
online waiver by clicking here. Teams who have all members sign
the waiver by September 10th will be mailed their race numbers.
NOTE:
Online team waiver closes September 10th.
If you are substituting
a team member, have the new team member sign the
event waiver online. THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO DO TO SUBSTITUTE A
MEMBER.
AWARD
CATEGORIES
Individual
age groups are Elite, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,50-54,
55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.
3-person and 5-person team divisions are Male, Female, Mixed (min 1
female per 3-person teams, 2 females per 5-person teams), All Military,
Corporate, ROTC, and Public Safety.
RESULTS,
AWARDS & PHOTOS
Unofficial
results for the top finishers will be posted by the registration area
30 minutes after the first finisher crosses the line and updated every
30 minutes after. Awards ceremony will take place once the majority of
racers are in. Awards will be given to the top 3 in each division
above. No awards can be handed out prior to the awards ceremony.
