6:30 a.m.-Comp – Entertainment & Activities
Static Displays, Camouflage Face Painting, Laser Tag (Ages 6+), Sponsor and Vendor Booths, and more
8:30 a.m. – Pre-Ceremony Begins

9:45 am. – Military Working Dog K-9 Demo (Honors Lawn)

6:30 a.m. – Race bib and t-shirt pick-up begins

Introduction to Senior Drill Instructor, Safety Brief, Commanding General’s Remarks, National Anthem, Marines’ Hymn

BIB PICK-UP
Your race bib will be available for pick-up by your LAST NAME at the Customer Service Tent the morning of the race starting at 6:30 am. If you are part of a team, your Team Captain will pick up your race bibs under the TEAMS tent.
Race bibs will include ticket for T-shirt Pick-up, Gear Check, and Complimentary Drink Ticket inside the Beer Garden (ages 21+).
Be sure to pin your race bib on your FRONT stomach or chest area. DO NOT ALTER THE RACE NUMBER IN ANY WAY.
BASE ACCESS
Event location: 3800 Chosin Ave, San Diego, CA 92140
You will be accessing a military base. We recommend that you arrive between 6:30 – 8:15 AM and have your valid government issued ID ready. Please allow time for security screening and parking.
There are two points of entries for non-Department of Defense (DoD) participants. DoD personnel with a Common Access Card (CAC) can enter through Gates 2, 4, and 5.
Gate 5 – Washington St: All participants and spectators can enter through Gate 5. Search “MCRD Gate 5” or “MCRD Visitor Center” on your navigation app for directions. Participants and spectators arriving through Gate 5 will be directed to park along the Parade Deck. Tram support to the race venue will be available to pedestrians entering through Gate 5.
Gate 4 – Old Town Ave: DoD personnel with a CAC only. Search “MCRD Gate 4” on your navigation app for directions. DoD personnel arriving through Gate 4 will be directed to park between the Fitness Center and Community Center.
Gate 2 – Barnett Ave: Pedestrian access is available through Gate 2. NO VEHICLE ACCESS available at this gate. Search “MCRD Gate 2” or “MCRD Henderson Ave” on your navigation app for directions. Gate 2 entrance is steps away from the race venue and start line.
Identification: All participants and spectators age 18 years and older accessing Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego should be prepared to present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or an approved alternate form of identification (i.e. – U.S. passport) to enter the base, in accordance with federal law, MCO 5530.13, and the Department of Homeland Security’s REAL ID Act.

Driver’s License/Registration/Insurance: If you are driving a vehicle, ensure you have a driver’s license, vehicle registration card, and proof of insurance in your possession. Each of these items are required to be current and in a valid status.
Firearms/Weapons: All firearms and weapons are prohibited aboard MCRD San Diego. Prohibited weapons include but are not limited to: knives greater than 3 inches, switchblades greater than 2 inches, and brass knuckles.
Drugs: All controlled substances are prohibited aboard MCRD San Diego. Any person(s) found possessing a controlled substance or associated paraphernalia (i.e. smoking devices) will be found in violation of Federal law. A medical marijuana card does not authorize possession of marijuana aboard MCRD San Diego. Contraband will be seized and offenders may be cited and denied entry. Controlled substances include but are not limited to: marijuana (and related products), methamphetamines, hallucinogens, and prescription medication without a valid prescription.
PARKING
Participants and spectators arriving through Gate 5 will be directed to park along the Parade Deck. Tram support to the race venue will be available to pedestrians entering through Gate 5. DoD personnel arriving through Gate 4 will be directed to park between the Fitness Center and Community Center.
T-SHIRT PICKUP
After you receive your race bib, pick-up your participant t-shirt at T-Shirt Pick-up tent before the race starts. T-shirt sizes will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
GEAR CHECK
Gear Check will be available at the venue. Please bring your gear ready in a seal-able bag to check. MCRD San Diego and Marine Corps Community Services is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Gear must be claimed by 11:00 AM.
SAFETY BRIEF/START LINE
A Safety Brief will be provided to all participants at 8:30 AM followed by an Opening Ceremony in front of the Main Stage. Additional instructions will be provided at the Staging Area prior to your wave. Race waves will begin at 9:00 AM.
COURSE TIME LIMIT
This is a 3-mile obstacle run with Drill Instructors that will motivate you throughout the course. This course is designed for all fitness levels; however, you have until 11:00 AM to complete the course. View course map at www.bootcampchallenge.com.
COURSE RULES AND SUPPORT
There will be water stations located at MILE 1, MILE 2, and at the race venue.
Sorry, no baby strollers, joggers, or children under the age of 14 allowed on the race course. However, they are allowed at the Festival Area and Spectator Observation Area. There will be a tram shuttle available to spectators from the Festival Area and Spectator Observation Area.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
There will be a Medical Tent at MILE 2 and the race venue. Medical personnel and staff will be stationed throughout the course and the venue. Notify staff on-site if you experience a medical problem on the course.
FESTIVAL AREA/SPECTATORS
Come join us! The start and finish are at the Festival Area so you can watch your runner take off and hang out until they finish. We will have plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Grab some food and refreshments from our food vendors, purchase memorabilia from the Marine Corps Exchange Logo Trailer, visit our wonderful sponsors and vendors, laser tag, enjoy music by our DJ, or grab a beer from the Beer Garden. There will be a tram shuttle available to spectators from the Festival Area and Spectator Observation Area.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE GIVEAWAY
New this year! For the first time in Boot Camp Challenge history, participants 18 and older have the chance to win a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and riding lessons, courtesy of San Diego Harley-Davidson. The winner will be announced immediately following the Awards Ceremony – must be present to win.
BEER GARDEN
Join us at the Coronado Brewing Company Beer Garden! Each runner will get 1 FREE tasting ticket. Additional drinks will be sold on-site. Please bring your ID for entrance to the Beer Garden.
PET POLICY
While we love them, pets will not be allowed on the race venue or on the course except for service animals and our Depot Mascot, Bruno.
AWARDS
The Awards Ceremony will start at approximately 10:30 AM. Awards are given to the Overall Top 3 Finishers for Male and Female Participants. Awards for Individual Male age categories, Individual Female age categories, and 3-person Team categories will be available at the Award Pick-up Booth.
RACE RESULTS
Official results will be posted at www.bootcampchallenge.com.
RACE PHOTOS
Race photos will be taken along the course and at the finish provided by 3PIX Studios. You will receive an e-mail with a link to these photos available for purchase within 3-4 days after the event.
